Kartell was founded in 1949 by Giulio Castelli. The son-in-law, Claudio Luti, took over the company in 1988 and brought new ideas into the company, as well as new designers, such as Piero Lissoni. The big breakthrough for Kartell came in 1999 when it produced furniture made of polycarbonate. Nowadays, Kartell is characterized by industrial production with the highest quality.
